Various gaskets and seals can degrade, causing oil leaks. The oil pan gasket can fail due to heat and aging, the valve cover gasket can deteriorate leading to oil on the engine block, and the oil filter housing gasket can break down, causing oil to leak onto the cooling system components.

BMWs may suffer from issues like window regulators breaking, leading to windows that won’t open or close properly. The complex iDrive system can malfunction, affecting the navigation, entertainment, and vehicle settings. Battery drain problems can occur, often due to failing to code a battery properly after replacement or parasitic draws from faulty electrical components.

Hydraulic power steering systems may develop leaks in the steering rack or fail due to a worn pump. Electric power steering systems can fail electronically. The steering wheel lock mechanism can also malfunction, sometimes preventing the vehicle from starting.

The high-pressure fuel pump, especially in the direct-injection turbocharged models, can fail, leading to poor engine performance and starting issues. Fuel injectors can clog or leak, which may cause rough idling, poor acceleration, and increased fuel consumption.
